Stylish Wedding at Empire Mine State Park

A Stylish and Upbeat Empire Mine State Park Wedding

Why did Katie and Taylor choose to have a stylish Empire Mine State Park wedding? Well, they told me that “It is the oldest, deepest, richest mine in California history”. But more than that, it is a unique, funky and beautiful location to celebrate their NorCal nuptials with friends and family. They wanted something that reflected their own life and love, and to basically have one gorgeous and meaningful celebration together. And judging by their photos, I think you can see the joy and happiness of everyone involved. What a beautiful couple. What a beautiful day!

Their wedding was an unbelievable mix of class, fun, community, and energy you will enjoy by scrolling down. Or scroll down to read their full story.

All About the Attitude

I got to know Katie, Taylor and their infectious humor and love last year when I shot their engagement photos in Iceland. Pretty much right off the bat, we knew it was going to be good a fit! One of the things I loved about Katie and Taylor: they are up for everything, all the time! Being adventurous, bold, fun and passionate is definitely a plus when it comes to your wedding and even wedding planning. It helps to be creative and resourceful like these two. Some examples? Katie had found a beautiful second-hand dress that she had altered for the occasion. Taylor’s mom played a big part in the organization. You can tell just by looking at a few pictures, but they pulled off a stylish and gorgeous wedding so well!

But I have to say that one of the sweetest moments happened during their ceremony: Katie surprised Taylor by offering him a rescue lab puppy! Can you imagine everyone’s reaction? Staring at the sweet and floppy little brown fur-baby in Taylor’s arms. Tears, laughter and love! What a sweet and touching way to start their new little family.

Northern California

Despite living in Sacramento, most of the weddings I document are in the Bay Area or closer to the coast. But I’m always up for a day in the foothills or mountains of NorCal. I’m thankful to Katie and Taylor for letting me be part of their unique day. Empire Mine has it all: majestic pine trees, clear and fresh air, charming gardens and grounds, and a super interesting history to boot. If you have never been there, I highly encourage you to check it out. And if you’re anything like Katie and Taylor, I know you’ll make your big day all your own!
