Katie & Taylor
Cozy engagement photos Iceland
When Katie and Taylor told me they were headed off to Iceland for a week-long vacation, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to do engagement photos in Iceland. This fun-loving couple had a blast adventuring around the south coast of Iceland.
I had a blast capturing their connection. Scroll down to see highlights of their engagement photos in Iceland, or scroll down to read their story.
Adventures Together
Katie and Taylor are getting married later this year and had already booked me for their wedding. During one of our preparation calls, they mentioned that they’d be headed over to the beautiful and unique destination of Iceland for a quick but necessary vacation. They’re both doctors in San Francisco, and have limited vacation time that works with both of their schedules. As soon as they have a moment to travel together, they make sure it is an adventure. Iceland in January comes with risky weather and short days, but it sounded like a perfect plan for these two.
Iceland had been on my travel list for a while, so this seemed like a perfect opportunity to get in a super memorable and unique session.
The Land of Fire and Ice
Our week in Iceland was just awesome. See my recent blog post for more about the Icelandic landscapes and experience. We had both rented campervans for the duration of the trip, which made touring around the Ring Road super fun and flexible. We had a bit of bad weather initially, so we waited a few days and tracked weather apps to find some decent conditions in a beautiful place.
Turns out the best opportunity was on the Southern coast at and around the ice lagoon, Jokulsalron. The diversity of the countryside on this part of the island meant that we only needed to drive a few minutes in either direction to completely change the atmosphere. So many impressive backdrops to choose from! I have already compiled a list of fantastic shoot locales, and more places I want to scout for next time!
Engagement Photos Iceland
Ok, so Iceland is beautiful and made for a gorgeous location. But what made this shoot awesome was the connection that Katie and Taylor had. They so clearly enjoy each other. Laughing, running, shivering and cuddling – they were the perfect couple for this cozy adventure session.
Not only was shooting these Katie and Taylor a total blast, but they were delightful to travel with. We happened to be on the same flights from SFO to Reykjavik which gave us some time to get to know each other a little better. Their go-with-the-flow attitude is what I love to see when traveling. And it turned out it was necessary to be super flexible with the weather and conditions on site to make the shoot work.
Thanks so much for your patience, good humor and flexibility guys! I can’t wait for your wedding this year.
