DANI & AJ, ELEGANT AND UNSCRIPTED LAKE TAHOE WEDDING

If you envision a Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe wedding, imagine this: cool mountain air, pines surrounding a sailcloth tent, and a weekend centered on family and belly laughs. Dani & AJ asked for no production, only presence. We kept the aesthetic elegant and the schedule gracious so the images could breathe in real time alongside them.

Meet Dani & AJ

I video-chatted with two people who brighten up discussing adventure and one another. They travel, they mountain bike, they pursue music and sunshine. They’re emotions-first and logic-first, in the absolute best way—Dani’s infectious enthusiasm; AJ’s curiosity anchors the room. Mountains summon their souls, so Tahoe was a no-brainer.

The Day, Their Way

A relaxed morning with no rushing around: Dani lolls in the suite with champagne flowing and people coming in for hugs in rotation; AJ had a few drinks with his closest guys and enjoyed the vista. We are taking some posed portraits, nothing stiff or rushed. Then let the real moments lead. Among the evergreens they recited vows with parents near and the wedding party smiling in the wings, and the kiss came with a smile first, my favorite way.

From there we moved to a sailcloth tent dressed in soft florals and layered textures; candlelight and chandeliers caught the easy mountain breeze. Toasts landed, equal parts roast and love letter. Later the dance floor turned into story time with better lighting

Why Values-First Planning Changes Your Photos

If you plan from your values, your images change. Dani & AJ were interested in presence not pose, so we added fifteen-minute breathers between moments, just long enough for real candids and good light. We scheduled for comfort with shade, great seats, and a few cozy wraps so guests remained present (and presence photographs beautifully). We brought their people into the get-ready rooms—parents and siblings close—in because those are the photographs you treasure forever.

And we let the energy arc: quiet instrumentals early, full-send dance floor later, so the everything flows like a story, not a checklist.
